About the writing

The Giving Field publishes practical reading about generosity, family stewardship and the questions that come before a charitable commitment. We cover giving today, conversations about future gifts, charity research and community sport.

What you will find here

Our guides are designed to make a conversation easier to begin. They offer original checklists, hypothetical examples and links to primary sources. The giving worksheet performs simple arithmetic in your browser. The site does not take donations, administer a fund, enroll donors in a program or prepare legal documents.

How we write

Articles distinguish source-backed facts from editorial suggestions. Legal and financial details can depend on place, date, institution and personal circumstances. We link to official information where a reader needs to check those details and avoid promising a particular result.

The five bylines used here are editorial pen names: Audrey Bennett, Malcolm Reed, Estelle Boone, Simon Calder and Vivian Brooks. They organize the writing into subject areas. They do not represent claimed legal, financial, tax or professional credentials. Illustrative images are generated for this site and do not document real donors, clients or events.

Corrections and commercial links

A useful guide should be clear about its limits. Send corrections through our correspondence page, including the page address and the source that needs attention. Our reading room explains resource selection; our disclosures page describes how commercial links are handled. A purchase does not make a charitable gift to this site.
